Value orientations of convicted recidivists

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the peculiarities of the value orientations of Orthodox and non-religious convicted recidivists. The purpose of the article is to analyze the value orientations of Orthodox and non-religious convicts. It was concluded that there is a close connection between all similar terminal and instrumental values of the convicts of the control group who did not participate in the correctional program, which was not found in the convicts of the experimental group who participated in it.
Significant differences were also found between the clusters of terminal and instrumental values of convicts in the experimental group, which was not found in the convicts of the control group. With the help of factor analysis, it was established that in each group of convicts there is a factor «Basic values», almost in each: «Family values», «Professional values» and «Ethical values». As a result of involving convicts of the experimental group in the «Orthodox Values» correctional program, they experienced significant changes in the hierarchy of terminal and instrumental values, which did not occur in the convicts of the control group, which indicates its effectiveness in changing the values of convicted recidivists from criminal to prosocial ones.
