Psychological support of the families of law defenders in the conditions of war: ukrainian and international experience

The article examines the psychological needs of families of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the conditions of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war. It is emphasized that the professional activity of law enforcement officers is characterized by a high level of stress, emotional and physical stress, which directly affects the psycho-emotional state of their family members. It was determined that the existing systems of psychological support are mainly focused on the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, while the family component remains insufficiently integrated into the general system of psychosocial support. This creates significant gaps in comprehensive support and reduces the effectiveness of restoring the psychological stability of law enforcement officers.
Modern national and international approaches to the organization of psychological care are analyzed, in particular innovative programs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, interdepartmental initiatives and European projects of cooperation in the field of mental health. Particular attention is paid to the role of the family as a key factor in the psychological stability and professional efficiency of law enforcement officers.
The need to transition to a comprehensive multi-level support system, including individual, group and family psychological assistance, as well as crisis intervention and longterm support, is highlighted.The importance of the development of interdepartmental interaction, the involvement of international experience and the introduction of modern psychotherapeutic approaches, in particular cognitive-behavioral therapy and EMDR, is substantiated. The expediency of expanding access to psychological services for family members of Ministry of Internal Affairs employees as a condition for increasing the stability of the entire system of law enforcement agencies is emphasized.
